A consistent setup routine reduces distraction and helps you begin each drive in control.
Settle before you start
With your instructor, practise checking the doors, seating position, steering position, seat belt and mirrors before preparing to move. Use the same safe sequence each time until it becomes familiar.
Why consistency matters
Repeating the routine makes it easier to remember when you feel under pressure. It also creates a clear pause between getting into the car and beginning to drive.
Keep the routine purposeful
The aim is not to rush through a memorised list. Make each adjustment properly, confirm that you can reach the controls comfortably and ensure your mirrors support effective observation.
